About Canteen
Canteen is an Australian not-for-profit organisation that provides free and tailored support to young people aged 12-25 who are impacted by cancer.
Whether they are dealing with their own diagnosis, a close family member’s cancer or the death of a loved one, Canteen provides support such as counselling, peer support events and youth-friendly resources. Canteen was established by a group of young cancer patients in 1985, with young people remaining at the helm and guiding the organisation at every level. Combined with its world-class research into the emotional and social impacts of cancer, the team at Canteen truly understands how cancer is different in a young person’s world.
How Ritchies’ donations have made a difference
The generous contributions received from the Ritchies Community Benefit Program have aided Canteen in supporting young people through a world turned upside down by cancer. In the last year alone, Canteen delivered an incredible 25,531 services, including counselling, vocational support, programs, and youth leadership training
Thanks to the generosity of our incredible supporters, Canteen is able to provide free and tailored treatment and life-changing cancer support to young people impacted by cancer.
With your support, Canteen can reach more young people, grow its service offerings and find innovation solutions to improve the mental and physical health, and social wellbeing of those facing cancer.
National Bandanna Day
Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2024, Bandanna Day is the flagship fundraising and awareness campaign for Canteen. Since Bandanna Day began it has raised more than $35 million to support young people impacted by cancer.
There's many ways to get involved with Bandanna Day this October! Register to sell bandannas, take a hair challenge, buy a bandanna or smash your step goals and help provide life-changing support to young people in worlds turned upside down by cancer.
Every bandanna sold and dollar raised will help young people find life in the face of cancer and discover new experiences on the flipside of the hard ones.
