Ritchies Retailer of the Year Awards – NSW & VIC Results
We are excited to share the incredible results from the recent Metcash IGA Retailer of the Year Awards in both NSW and VIC. It’s been a fantastic journey, and we couldn’t be more proud of our teams for their dedication and hard work.
NSW Retailer of the Year Awards Results
We are thrilled to announce that Taren Point and Boambee have been recognised for their outstanding achievements at the NSW IGA Retailer of the Year Awards held recently:
- Taren Point: Large IGA Produce Department Award
- Boambee: Innovation Award
These awards highlight the excellence of our teams in managing and innovating within their departments. Taren Point’s recognition for their top-tier produce department showcases the importance of fresh food in our business, and a huge shout-out goes to Faisal Probal and his team, along with Simon Fackender and the entire Taren Point crew for their contributions.
Boambee’s Innovation Award recognises their implementation of a three-bay environmental and sustainability section within the supermarket. This reflects the increasing importance of eco-friendly practices to both our customers and our business. Congratulations to the team at Boambee for their ongoing efforts in making sustainability a key part of their operations.
These two stores will now represent NSW and Ritchies at the IGA National Department Awards at Expo in July. We wish them the best of luck as they take this next step!
VIC Retailer of the Year Awards Results
The VIC IGA Retailer of the Year Awards held on Saturday night saw Ritchies receive numerous nominations, and we are proud to announce the following wins:
- Towerhill: Large Store Dairy/Freezer Award
- Balnarring: Large Store Produce Department Award, Transformation & Innovation Award, Large Grocery & General Merchandise Award, and Victorian Large Store of the Year Award!
Balnarring’s victory as VIC Large Store Retailer of the Year is an exceptional accomplishment, and we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dean Jeffery and his incredible team. This win highlights the dedication and hard work of a store that sets the bar for excellence.
Not to be outdone, Towerhill took home the Large Store Dairy/Freezer Award, an impressive achievement given the strong competition from Balnarring in the same category. Special thanks to the Towerhill team, led by Brent, for their continuous efforts and outstanding performance in a highly competitive retail environment.
The Transformation & Innovation Award recognises the great strides we’re making in sustainability, and we’re pleased to have been recognised for our efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our store operations. A big thank you to our design team: Jarrod Swaine, Richard Hobbs, and Ian Williamson from TRG, whose hard work is helping us build more eco-friendly stores.
Special Recognition for Dane Silvester
In addition to our store achievements, we’re proud to announce that Dane Silvester, our VIC Produce Buyer, has been awarded Victorian Produce Buyer of the Year at the Epping Produce Market Awards. This prestigious honour is a testament to Dane’s dedication and excellence in his role, making this Ritchies' first win in this category. Congratulations to Dane for his outstanding work!
Looking Ahead: National Awards & Beyond
We are incredibly proud of all the nominees and winners from both the NSW and VIC awards. The competition was fierce, and it’s an honour to have such talented teams representing Ritchies.
The journey doesn’t end here. Taren Point, Boambee, and Balnarring will now compete in the National Department Awards at the IGA Expo in July, and we’re all looking forward to seeing them shine on the national stage.
Most importantly, Balnarring is now eligible to win the IGA Australian Retailer of the Year Award, and we’re all behind them as they continue their remarkable journey!
