Children's Cancer Institute Australia

Children's Cancer Institute Australia (CCIA) is the only independent medical research institute in Australia devoted to research into childhood cancer. The vision of the Institute is to save the lives of all children with cancer and to eliminate their suffering, and our mission is to achieve this through world-class research.

Founded in 1976 by a dedicated group of parents and doctors who wanted to do something more in the fight against childhood cancer, the Institute opened its first laboratory in 1984. Over the past 22 years, CCIA's dedicated team of researchers has earned a reputation for producing world class research, Each year in Australia more than 500 children are diagnosed with cancer. Today the survival rate has risen to over 70 percent from only 2 percent 50 years ago. However, three out of every ten children diagnosed with cancer still do not make it; these are the children CCIA is dedicated to saving.

Without the support of the general community and the corporate sector, we could not continue our research. Children's Cancer Institute Australia has the vision, the scientific capability and the commitment to make a real and positive difference to the lives of all children who are diagnosed with cancer, but we cannot do it alone - we need your support.

One way of helping our fundraising is through Ritchies Community Benefit Program. You can nominate CCIA at any Ritchies store in NSW.
